Gulf Helicopters created its Training Academy to cater to the needs of its own and third party clients. The Training Academy is continuously evolving to be one of the reputed Aviation Training Service providers in the region, addressing the training needs of clients worldwide.

As the first commercial operator to own, commission and operate a state of the art, Full Motion Flight Simulator for AgustaWestland AW 139, Gulf Helicopters embarked upon an aspiring journey to become a centre of excellence in Aviation Training. Our goal is to offer customized and cost efficient solutions to our clients.

Our AW 139 Full Flight Simulator (FFS) is qualified by European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) to Level B under JAR-FSTD H. Our EASA Approval No. is EU-UKGH546. We also hold user approvals for the simulator from Qatar Civil Aviation Authority, Indian Directorate General of Civil Aviation and Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority.

Our Academy houses an AgustaWestland First Flight, the virtual interactive procedural trainer (VIPT) device for both AW 139 and AW 189. This device is a powerful and cost effective procedural and familiarization training devices that gives pilots the ability to ‘’learn by doing’’.

Gulf Helicopters also has Type Rating Training Organization (TRTO) approval from Qatar Civil Aviation Authority.

Gulf Helicopters is EASA approved Part 147 Maintenance Training Organization. Our approval certificate reference is EASA.147.0079.

The courses we offer are addresses the helicopter pilot qualifications as well as their upgrades, helicopter engineering training and associated trainings. GHC Training Academy offers training using its new-technology Full Motion Flight Simulator and modern class rooms and tools. The pilot training covers valuable guidance on the various real time situations that a pilot might face during actual flight. The advanced AW139 full flight simulator is extensively used for the purpose of Recurrent Trainings and Pilot Type Ratings.

Our Training facilities will soon be the home for our third training device, a Full Flight Simulator for AgustaWestland AW 189, which is likely to be commissioned in July 2016, to be qualified as Level C under JAR-FSTD H.

  • CAPT. HASSAN AL BOAININ

    Head of Training / Chief Training Pilot

    Joined Gulf Helicopters in 2007, Captain AL BOAININ is a National Pilot with experience in multiple helicopter operations such as Oil & Gas, Medical Services, Tourism, Photography and Banner operations. Besides being a professional pilot, he became a Training Pilot, CRM Instructor and Type Rating Instructor, he also made his way to Management in 2011 as a Deputy Base Manager for the Emergency Medical Services – EMS. Today Captain AL BOAININ is recognised as a post holder for two positions, he is the Head of Training and the Chief Training Pilot.

  • Capt. Claudio Fenley

    Instructor/Examiner

    Capt. Fenley has been an aviation professional for over 30 years during which he has participated in a wide range of military and civilian missions in diverse environments. He has a solid academic background, and has worked for years in helicopter instruction/training development, conduction and management. He is currently an instructor/examiner at Gulf Helicopters Training Academy.

     

  • Andries Brandt

    Technical Training Instructor

    Andries has experience in a wide range of aviation disciplines. He joined the company as Technical Training Instructor in 2009 to support the Training and Development Department. With over 30 years of experience in the Aviation Industry as a Maintenance Aircraft Engineer, Flight Engineer and Technical Instructor, Andries provides AW139 helicopter type and recurrent training to both Flight Crew and Aircraft Maintenance Engineers

  • Capt. Jay Branon

    Technical Training Instructor

    Jay has been a professional helicopter pilot for 35 years with over 16,500 hours of accident free flying. He recently retired from Gulf Helicopters flight department and has joined the training staff as a part time consultant instructor. He has experience in a wide range of helicopters including Bell, Sikorsky and Aerospatiale products.

  • Mehran Pourkafaei

    Technical Training Instructor

    Mehran is a Technical Instructor at Gulf Helicopters Company. He began his aviation voyage by obtaining his HND and BSc (Hon) in Aerospace Engineering from Kingston University, UK. Before joining the Development and Training Academy, he worked as a Technical Training Instructor for companies such as Qatar Aeronautical College and Qatar Airways. He has been a subject matter expert in a wide range of aeronautical topics.

    Training Coordinator

    Latha Unnikrishnan is a Training Coordinator with the Training and Development Department of Gulf Helicopters Company. She has got more than 18 years of experience in the Administration, Training and Development departments with several reputed Organizations. Latha has got extensive training in the fields of Aviation and Administration and she also has an aviation background with the Qatar Airways.
